FAQ
Everything hosts and providers need to know — listing, availability, booking, payments and resolving disputes.
Listing a property
How do I list a property?
Open Host admin → Listings and tap “Add”. Enter the name, address, bedrooms/bathrooms, a photo and any access notes (lockbox, parking, pets). You can also walk through it step by step in Host onboarding.
Can I edit or add more properties later?
Yes. In Host admin → Listings, tap the pencil to edit any listing or “Add” for another one — there's no limit and no need to redo onboarding.
What are the access notes for?
Anything the provider must know before arriving — gate codes, alarm info, pet warnings. These appear highlighted on the job so nothing critical is missed.
Setting availability
How do I set when providers can visit?
Go to Host admin → Availability and set your visit windows. Providers only see time slots inside these windows when they propose or accept a visit.
How do scheduling times work?
You can propose up to three time slots when you create a request. The provider picks one when they accept, and the confirmed slot appears on the job calendar for both of you.
Booking a job
How do I book a job?
Tap “Book a new job” from the host dashboard or Host admin → Jobs. Pick the property, choose services (or build a custom to-do list), set your price using the category pricing guides, propose time slots and add notes.
Can I pick who does the work?
Yes. Browse provider profiles to compare services, rates, weekly availability, certifications and reviews, then request that provider directly — or leave it open to any available provider.
Are providers vetted?
Every provider uploads a government ID before they can take work. Handyman/maintenance and painting providers must also submit proof of liability insurance; for other trades insurance is recommended and shown on their profile when supplied.
Can I message the provider?
Yes — chat opens on the job as soon as a provider accepts. You can also add important notes that appear in red for the provider (gate codes, pets, parking, anything critical).
Payments & protection
When do I pay for a job?
Payment is upfront. As soon as a provider accepts your request, you pay the price you set on the job. Nothing starts until the payment goes through.
Does the provider get the money right away?
No. Your payment is held securely by our payment provider. The provider can see the job is funded, but the money is not released until you approve the completed work — or until the 48-hour review window closes with no dispute.
How do I release the payment?
When the provider marks the job complete, open the job and tap “Approve completion & release payment”. The provider's payout is created immediately and shows as released on your dashboard.
What does Haven charge?
Haven keeps a 15% platform fee from the job amount. The provider receives the remaining 85% — both figures are shown on every payment row.
Where can I see what's held vs released?
Your host dashboard and host profile both show three totals: payments due, held securely by our payment provider, and released to providers, with a line for every job.
Disputes & unverified work
What if the job wasn't done right?
Don't verify it. Payment stays on hold with Haven while you message the provider on the job to have it corrected or finished. Nothing is released without your confirmation.
How do I open a dispute?
Open Host admin → Disputes, pick the job, describe the issue and attach photos. The provider can respond in the case thread and a Haven moderator reviews the messages, photos and job history.
What can a moderator decide?
A moderator can release the payment to the provider, partially release it, or refund you the held amount — depending on the evidence from both sides.
What happens if I never approve a completed job?
When a provider marks a job complete, you get 48 hours to approve it or open a dispute. Haven sends you a reminder before the window closes. If the window passes with no dispute open, the job is approved automatically and the payment is released to the provider. Opening a dispute at any point during the window stops the automatic release until a Haven moderator decides.
Can I cancel after paying?
Yes, before the work is done. Contact the provider and support; the held amount is refunded per our refund policy.
